Michel Gurfinkiel,

a French public intellectual.

The former editor of Valeurs Actuelles, a French weekly magazine, Michel Gurfinkiel is a regular contributor to Commentary, Mosaic, Standpoint, The Article, First Things, The Middle East Quarterly, and many other English languages publications. He authored several books, including La Cuisson du Homard, Le Roman d’Odessa, Le Roman d’Israël, and Israël peut-il survivre ? An interview on his poignant essay on Holocaust memories, Le Devoir de Mémoire, was recently broadcast by France 2 channel.

Gurfinkiel is a Fellow of the Middle East Forum . He teaches Jewish religious history at Collège des Bernardins, the Catholic Religious Advanced Studies Centre in Paris.

He sits on the boards of Consistoire central (the National Union of French Synagogues), Consistoire de Paris (the Union of Synagogues in Paris), and Séminaire israélite de France (the French Rabbinical School). He is a member of France-Israel’s Committee.
